A Warri-based legal practitioner, Mr Francis Omatsola, has been reportedly found dead in front of his compound along the popular Ajamimogha road in Warri, Delta State.

Omatsola, in his 40s, was alleged to have died on Sunday evening after returning from an outing.

The deceased died while allegedly resting on his landlord’s car which was parked in front of the compound.

Although details of how he died were still sketchy at the time of filing this report, sources had it that the deceased was looking lively and hearty when he returned from his outing.

No injury was found on his body at the time his lifeless body was discovered by residents of the area.

Omatsola’s colleague and rights activist, Barr. Omemiroro Maxwell Ogedegbe confirmed the death of the lawyer in a post on his Facebook wall.

Ogedegbe in his tribute said, “Not again. We mourn today the death of Francis Dan Omatsola whose life was cut short yesterday while his best was yet come.

“A gentleman of the Bar. May your killers not find peace may they meet their Waterloo.

“May the scripture of dying by the equivalent of their weapon of death be their portion. Sleep on my dearest Colleague no man can question God as life is indeed a vapour.

” Information just filtered in that our Colleague was allegedly poisoned and that he was found dead resting on his landlord’s car.”

The Delta State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adeyinka Adeleke, while confirming the incident, however, expressed surprise at the manner the lawyer died.

“It actually happened. I have even gotten the photographs. It looks like bizarre. I learnt he removed his clothes and lie down like that”, added.

CP Adeleke who noted that the deceased who was wearing a boxer rested on the car, said he had directed the Divisional Police Officer, ‘B’ Division in Warri, SP Andrew to conduct an autopsy to ascertain what killed the lawyer.
