Deputy President of the 9th Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege says he is in absolute shock and devastated by the sudden death of Dr. Chamberlain Dunkwu, who passed on at 54 years.
Senator Omo-Agege expressed his shock and grief in a statement Sunday, saying: “I am in absolute shock, devastated and terribly sad that Chamberlain has passed away.”
In a statement signed by its Media Adviser, Sir Sunny Areh, the former Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, said Dr. Dunkwu was known for his warm hospitality and dedication to his community.
Senator Omo-Agege fondly recalled his last “Thank You” visit to Ika North East saying, “Chamberlain was the perfect doting host during my ‘Thank You’ tour to Ika North East Local Government Area last year.”
Senator Omo-Agege described Dr. Dunkwu as a true friend and brother, stating, “I remain in shock that a true friend and brother has left us.”
“Chamberlain combined loyalty with defined ideology he stuck to at all times. His loyalty to the party and party leaders had an ideology framework he never compromised on. He stood for discipline, upholding of the interests of the people and protection of all the virtues and principles the party stands for”, Omo-Agege stated.
“Dr. Dunkwu’s passing has left a deep void in the hearts of those who knew him. He was a pillar of strength and a kind soul whose philanthropy was extraordinary.
“Chamberlain’s passing is a loss to Delta State, Nigeria and to me personally,” he said.
Until his passing on March 7, 2026, Dr. Dunkwu served as Deputy Chief of Staff (Legislative) to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas. Before then, he was a Special Adviser on Members’ Affairs to the Speaker of the 9th House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.
Senator Omo-Agege prayed for the repose of his gentle soul and also extended his heartfelt condolences to his family.
