Police arrest suspected killers of Ebonyi pharmacist

The Ebonyi State Police Command has said two suspects have been arrested in connection with the killing of Mr. Monday Ukwa, a pharmacist at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki.

Ukwa, whose dead body was found along Enugu Abakaliki highway at the early hours of Monday 4th March, 2019, was said to have left the house with a Church member.

The suspect include one Mr. Frank, of Living faith church (a.k.a winners chapel)  whom the deceased wife Mrs. Nkechinyere Ukwa, had earlier accused of masterminding her husbands death because of leadership tussle the due had in the church at Umuoghara  Ezza North.

Mrs Nkechinyere told Journalists that “on the 3rd day of March 2019 being Sunday, during the Sunday Church service, me and my husband were in the church with other church members waiting for the person that supposed to handover a leadership position to him to do so but that person Frank by name walked away. He walked away and refused to handover to my husband who to be the next leader of the church.

“The Church is Living Faith Chapel (Winners Chapel), Umuoghara chapter. So, the Pastor in charge of the church went to Frank and asked him why he was not in the church to handover to the next leader. He reluctantly came out after several pleadings and  persuasions  by the Pastor and reluctantly handed over to my husband. she explained.


ASP Odah Loveth police public relations officer in the state who confirmed the arrest to Warritoday, said that one of the suspects had a fight with the pharmacist on 3rd march while the second suspect was the man who picked him up from his house on Sunday evening and he didn’t come again.


She said, “On police investigation, it was discovered that there was a man that fought with him on 3rd march, the person was arrested though the deceased can’t speak again, the suspect said the deceased had an issue with him that he accused him of stealing a phone. But nobody could tell the police what actually happened.
Police want to know his relationship with the late pharmacist that made him to accuse him of stealing phone.

The second person arrested was the person that picked him up from the house on Sunday they are in police custody and police is still investigating  at the end justice must prevail”, she said.
