Scare in Delta community as residents discover man’s lifeless body

Palpable anxiety on Wednesday gripped residents of Uti community in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State following the discovery of a lifeless body of a yet-to-be indentified man along the busy Uti road.

It was gathered that the discovery of the corpse forced shop owners around the area to shut down their businesses for the fear of arrested by the police.

WARRI TODAY learnt that no part of the deceased was severed but he was alleged to have sustained bruises suspected to be matchet cuts all over his body.

Some residents who spoke with our reporter suspect that the deceased might have been assassinated by unknown killers.

The deceased is believed to be in his early 40s.

None of the residents could identify the corpse which had thrown resident of the area in fear.

One of the community leaders who spoke anonymity told WARRI TODAY that the incident had been reported at the Ebrumede Police Station.

Shop owners in the area said their businesses will remain shut until police evacuate the corpse from the area to avoid being innocently arrested.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, could not be reached for details as his line said to be out of network coverage area.
