The Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District in the Nigerian Senate, Senator Ede Dafinone, has felicitated with Christians in Delta Central and across Nigeria on the Easter celebrations and activities ending the Lenten season.
Senator Dafinone, however, called on Christians to reflect on the solemn lessons learnt during the season as well as imbibe the virtues of Jesus Christ, who presented himself as a sacrificial lamb for mankind’s redemption.
The Delta Central lawmaker, in a statement on Sunday, said while Christians celebrate the risen Christ, they must also reflect and exemplify the essence of the season by forgiving and tolerating others.
“As Christians across Nigeria and around the world mark the joyous celebration of Easter, I, Senator Ede Dafinone, extend my warmest greetings and heartfelt felicitations to the Christian faithful within Delta Central Senatorial District, Delta State, and the nation at large.
“Easter is a sacred season that reminds us of the ultimate sacrifice made by our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, whose death on the cross and glorious resurrection brought hope, redemption, and the promise of eternal life to humanity. It is a time for reflection, gratitude, and renewal of faith.
“I urge Christians to use this solemn occasion not only to celebrate, but to deeply reflect on the virtues of love, sacrifice, humility, and forgiveness exemplified by Christ. His selfless act of laying down His life for the salvation of mankind serves as a powerful lesson on compassion, unity, and service to others.
“As we commemorate this important season, let us embrace the spirit of Easter by fostering peace, promoting mutual understanding, and extending a hand of kindness to our neighbours, regardless of faith or background. Together, we can build a more united, tolerant, and prosperous nation.
“May this Easter bring renewed hope, joy, and divine blessings to all families, and may the message of Christ’s resurrection inspire us towards greater service and commitment to the common good.
