The President of Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) Ireland, Omiragwa Lucky Ohwofasa Eghagbevwa, has congratulated the Ohworode of ancient Olomu Kingdom in Delta State, His Majesty Albert Akpomudje, SAN, FCIArb, Eyavwie-Alaka I, on his emergence as the 54th Chairman of the Nigerian Body of Benchers.
In a statement, Eghagbevwa described the monarch’s elevation as a major honour not only for Olomu Kingdom but also for the Urhobo nation and Delta State.
He noted that succeeding former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayode Ariwoola, was a testament to Akpomudje’s integrity and standing as a legal luminary.
The UPU Ireland president also praised the monarch’s leadership style, describing him as an enlightened and accessible traditional ruler committed to the development and global visibility of the Urhobo people.
He recalled previous engagements with the monarch, highlighting his humility and prompt responses, which he said reflected a proactive approach to leadership.
Eghagbevwa expressed confidence that Akpomudje would bring his wealth of experience to bear in strengthening the legal profession in Nigeria.
He added that the monarch’s dual role as a traditional ruler and legal practitioner places him in a unique position to uphold both cultural values and professional excellence.
He prayed for wisdom and a successful tenure for the monarch in his new role.
