The President candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2023 general elections, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has said his administration will work with Senator Ovie Omo-Agege as governor to give special attention to Delta State if elected as next Nigeria’s president.
Tinubu, flanked by his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima, also promised to revamped the ailing seaports in Warri, Koko and other parts of the state to create employment and strengthen the economy of the people of the state and the Niger Delta region as President.
The former Lagos State governor spoke on Saturday at the Warri Township Stadium during the APC presidential campaign and flag-off of the governorship campaign of Senator Omo-Agege.
He charged the people of the state to vote for all candidates of the APC in next year’s election, adding that he has the capacity and experience to bring “renewed hope” to Nigerians who were facing myriad of challenges.
Tinubu, while stating that he was confident of winning the presidential election, assured that he would give special focus to the oil-rich Niger Delta region.
While lamenting the underdevelopment of Warri and other parts of Delta, the APC Presidential candidate charged electorate to vote for Senator Omo-Agege, whom he described as the best person for the governorship seat of Delta.
He added that with Omo-Agege as governor, he would ensure unprecedent development of the oil-rich state.
“I’ll work with Senator Ovie Omo-Agege as governor to bring development to Delta State and other parts of Niger Delta. Warri is going down, there’s no development here. They don’t have plans for development. I know how to bring development.
“This is the winning team. The team that will create job opportunities for our people. I will fulfil all of my promises to Nigerians. I have the capacity and the experience for this job. As you vote for me and Omo-Agege, also vote for all APC candidates”, Tinubu stated.
Tinubu, whose wife (Senator Oluremi) hails from Itsekiri in Delta, also took a swipe at the Presidential candidate of the PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, saying that the former vice president cannot unite the country.
He said Atiku publicly fought former President Olusegun Obasanjo as vice, stressing that he cannot be trusted with the nation’s number seat.
“They (PDP) have no shame. When Atiku was vice president, he publicly fought his boss. They don’t have time for governance. I will offer the right leadership, Nigerians have been asking. A vote for me is a vote for progress. I’ll fulfil my promises and ensured a united Nigeria”, he added.
Earlier in his remark, APC governorship candidate, Omo-Agege appealed to the people of southern Nigeria to reject Atiku and his vice, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, who publicly betrayed the trust of his colleague governors and the people of the region.
Omo-Agege flanked by his deputy, Rt. Hon. Friday Osanebi, said Governor Okowa was a ‘serial betrayal and a traitor’ who cannot be trusted with the vice-presidential seat of the country.
He recalled that Okowa who hosted a meeting of southern governors where they agreed that the south should produce next president turned around to work against the unanimous agreement that he hosted in Asaba, the state capital.
The Delta Central lawmaker also berated the PDP vice presidential candidate for wasting the state resources on his inordinate ambition.
The Deputy President of the Senate called on Deltans to vote for the presidential candidate of the APC, Tinubu and his vice, Shettima to revamp ailing industries including the seaports in the state.
He added that with him as a governor and Tinubu as president, they will revive the moribund Delta Steel Company (DSC) Aladja and give special attention to the developmental needs of the state.
On his part, former governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole called on Deltans to overwhelmingly vote Asiwaju Tinubu for president and Senator Omo-Agege for governor and other candidates of the party in the forthcoming elections.
The former APC national chairman challenged the vice-presidential candidate of the PDP, Governor Okowa, to account for huge revenues that he had received from the Federal Government.
The campaign rally which was greeted by mammoth crowd was attended by the President of the Senate, Dr. Ahmed Lawan; governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong, Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, Rev Francis Waive, Chief Ayiri Emami and many other top APC chieftains
