Komuko, popularly known as the “Youth Governor,” made the declaration yesterday during his formal defection alongside over 100 youth groups into the party.

Addressing the gathering, National Chairman of NDC, Senator Moses Cleopas, described the party as an “Ark of Noah,” saying the influx of new members signals a strategic boost toward electoral victory.

“We are here to welcome new members into this great movement. With the entry of Komuko, we have gained a strong lieutenant for the task ahead,” he said.

Cleopas dismissed fears of internal division, stressing that the youth leader joined to strengthen, not destabilise, the party.

“He is a grassroots mobiliser with strong influence among youths. His coming is a major strategic advantage for us,” he added.

The NDC chairman urged members to take ownership of the party, hinting at further defections across regions.

“Everybody is entitled to this party. Claim it, build it. Very soon, movements from other parts of the country will surprise many,” he said.

He also called for massive grassroots mobilisation and voter registration.

“Take the message to your communities. Register in large numbers, and ensure you obtain your voter cards when the time comes,” he charged.

In his remarks, Bayelsa State Chairman of NDC, Hon. Dauprebo Ikuromo, described the party as inclusive and solution-driven, insisting it remains the vehicle for addressing Nigeria’s challenges.

He hailed former governor Senator Seriake Dickson as “a defender of the Ijaw nation and multi-party democracy,” expressing confidence in the party’s chances.

“Our party is built on character and victory. The time for real change is now,” he said.

Earlier, Komuko said his decision to join the NDC was driven by conviction and belief in the leadership of Dickson.

“Elections are won by numbers, and this is the place to be at a critical time like this,” he stated.

“Senator Dickson has a track record of developing people and the state. His politics is rooted in growth and empowerment, and that is why I stand with him.”

The youth leader called on young people and women across the state to rally behind the party, describing the moment as a turning point in Bayelsa politics.

According to him, “What we are witnessing today is the beginning of a new movement that will shape the future of our state and the country.”
