2027: INEC Restores Abraka, Ughelli South II, Isoko North II Delta Assembly Seats, Dafinone Salutes Commission

The Independent National Electoral Commission has confirmed that elections will hold in the restored Abraka (Ethiope East II), Ughelli South II and Isoko North II State Constituencies during the 2027 General Elections, ending years of agitation over their exclusion.

The assurance came on Thursday during a stakeholders’ engagement in Asaba following Federal High Court judgments that restored the three constituencies.

Reacting to the development, Senator representing Delta Central, Ede Dafinone, hailed the decision as a landmark victory for democracy, describing it as the culmination of years of legal battles, advocacy and sustained engagement by stakeholders.

According to him, the restoration corrected a longstanding injustice and would guarantee fair political representation for the affected communities.

Dafinone disclosed that his office made several representations to INEC in 2025 and 2026 as part of efforts to secure the return of the constituencies, noting that the interventions, alongside the court’s judgments, paved the way for the breakthrough.

He congratulated the people of Abraka (Ethiope East II), Ughelli South II and Isoko North II, saying they can now look forward to electing their representatives and fully participating in the 2027 General Elections.
