#EdoDecides2024: Governor Obaseki Loses LGA To APC, PDP Rejects Result

The governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Monday Okpebholo, has defeated the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Asue Ighodalo, in Oredo local government area in the Saturday’s Edo State governorship election.

 

Oredo is the local government of Governor Godwin Obaseki and the supposed godfather of PDP governorship candidate, Ighodalo.

 

APC’s Okpebhole scored 30, 780   to defeat the PDP candidate who scored 24,938 in the keenly contested governorship election.

 

The Labour Party candidate who also hails from Oredo local government polled 5,389 votes to come third.

 

However, PDP Collation Agent at the INEC Office where the results are being announced has rejected the election result, alleging that the result were manufactured in favour of the APC candidate.

 

With the result, APC has now won a total of 11 local government areas of the 17 local government areas so far announced by INEC while PDP has won six councils.

The APC candidate currently leading with votes declared by the electoral commission.
