The Nigerian film industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of Nollywood actor, Junior Pope Odonwodo, popularly called Jnr Pope.
Junior Pope along three others were said to have been involved in a boat accident along the River Niger on Wednesday.
The actor was just a month away from his 40th birthday anniversary.
He was said to be returning from video shoot when the incident occurred near Asaba in Delta State.
The deceased and three others on the boat were said to have drown in the process with the actor being pronounced dead.
The identities of the other victims were yet-to-be ascertained at the time of filing this report but several sources in the firm industry had confirmed the sad incident.
Confirming the incident, Delta State Chairman of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Emma Onyemeziem, said the actor was pronounced dead at the hospital he was rushed.
Onyemeziem said the remains of the deceased had been deposited in the morgue.
He, however, could not confirm the identities of the other victims in the accident.
