The Commissioner of Police in Delta State, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, has commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for what he described as the administration’s sustained investment in strengthening security, saying the government’s support has significantly enhanced policing and public safety across the state.
Oyeniyi gave the commendation when the Chairman of the Delta State Security Trust Fund (DSSTF), Hon. Barr. Daniel Mayuku, led members of the Board and management, including the Executive Secretary, Hon. Barr. Samuel Osasa, on a courtesy visit to the Delta State Police Command Headquarters in Asaba.
The visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration between the Delta State Security Trust Fund and the Nigeria Police Force in the collective effort to safeguard lives and property across the state.
Speaking during the meeting, the Police Commissioner conveyed the appreciation of the Inspector-General of Police to Governor Oborevwori for his unwavering commitment to improving the operational capacity of the Police through sustained investment in security infrastructure, logistics and operational support.
He singled out the Delta State Security Trust Fund for facilitating the construction of a modern interrogation room and a state-of-the-art data room at the command, describing both facilities as vital tools for intelligence gathering, investigations and crime-fighting.
While expressing gratitude for the support received, Oyeniyi appealed for further assistance in maintaining operational vehicles, procuring modern technological equipment, strengthening community policing initiatives and expanding public engagement through digital and social media platforms.
Responding, Chairman of the Delta State Security Trust Fund, Hon. Barr. Daniel Mayuku, reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to supporting security agencies through strategic investments aimed at improving infrastructure, logistics and operational efficiency.
Mayuku said the Trust Fund would continue to partner security agencies to ensure they have the resources required to effectively discharge their constitutional responsibilities.
Also speaking, the Executive Secretary of the Trust Fund, Hon. Barr. Samuel Osasa, assured the Police Commissioner that Governor Oborevwori’s administration remains committed to initiatives that strengthen security architecture across Delta State.
He pledged that the Board would continue to deploy available resources towards projects and programmes that improve the effectiveness of security operations and sustain peace across the state.
Both the Delta State Police Command and the Delta State Security Trust Fund reaffirmed their commitment to deepening collaboration in the fight against crime, with a shared resolve to enhance public safety and maintain lasting peace across Delta State.
