The Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, has hosted participants of the Executive Intelligence Management Course 19 of the National Institute for Security Studies, NISS, on a study tour of the commission in Warri.
The delegation, from the NISS in Ussadam, Bwari, Abuja, visited the commission’s head office on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, as part of its study tour of government agencies in Delta State.
Receiving the team on behalf of the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Chief Festus Ochonogor, the Director of Administration and Supplies, Princess Precious Akparobi, commended the participants for sustaining their engagement with the commission.
Akparobi described DESOPADEC as an award-winning intervention agency with a statutory mandate to develop oil-producing and impacted communities across its mandate areas and beyond.
She said the commission had over the years hosted several participants from the institute, adding that such interactions had continued to promote knowledge-sharing and a better understanding of development interventions in oil-producing communities.
“Many of your members have interacted with the Commission in the past, and we are happy about that. We believe that the knowledge gained will enhance the commitment of the Institute and contribute to the overall development of the country,” she said.
The DESOPADEC director urged the participants to deploy the knowledge acquired during the interaction toward strengthening the commission, the institute and the development of Nigeria.
Responding, one of the participants, Victor Akpolo, expressed appreciation to Ochonogor and the commission for the warm reception accorded the delegation despite the short notice of the visit.
Akpolo said the study tour had provided the team with deeper insight into DESOPADEC’s activities and its impact on oil-producing communities in Delta State.
“We are happy that the knowledge we have gained has deepened our understanding of what the Commission has been able to achieve and is ready to do more for oil-producing communities in the State,” he said.
The participants described the engagement as fruitful and informative, noting that the visit had enhanced their understanding of DESOPADEC’s mandate and interventions.
The event ended with the presentation of copies of the DESOPADEC Compendium and Monthly Magazine to the visiting team by Akparobi.
Among others in attendance were Aduke Ogbe, Andre Olatunbosun and Modestus Maduabuchi.
