The Senior Pastor of Gihon City Bible Church in Delta State, Rev. Lawrence Agbirekomi, on Sunday declared that the resurrection of Jesus Christ remains the foundation of Christian faith and the ultimate source of victory for believers.
Delivering a sermon titled “The Power of Resurrection” during the church’s Resurrection Bliss service, Agbirekomi cited Philippians 3:10-14, stressing that the suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ form the bedrock upon which Christianity stands.
Drawing from Romans 8:11, the cleric explained that the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead is the power behind resurrection, assuring that divine restoration remains certain for the faithful.
“All the good things the devil has sought to destroy in the lives of believers shall be restored in line with the resurrection of Jesus Christ,” he declared.
Agbirekomi emphasized that the resurrection signifies Christ’s total dominion over the lives and destinies of believers, noting that the devil has no authority over those who are in Christ.
“Jesus is in complete control. Therefore, believers should not be afraid or troubled, because their lives and destinies are secured in Him,” he said.
He further assured Christians that the resurrection guarantees a hopeful future, declaring that because Christ lives, believers can face tomorrow with confidence, shielded from both spiritual attacks and human schemes.
The cleric also described Easter as a call to a new beginning, urging Christians to see the resurrection as an opportunity for spiritual renewal.
According to him, “All sins have been purged through Christ, and believers must therefore connect to divine grace and remain committed to the Kingdom of God, without returning to their former ways.”
He charged worshippers to embrace a transformed life anchored on faith, obedience and total dedication to God.
