Two Suspects Set Ablaze For Attempting To Rape 13-Year-Old Girl In Delta

There was pandemonium at Mosogar in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State when a group of mob reportedly set two men ablaze accused of attempting to rape a 13-year-old schoolgirl.

The two victims, who had earlier robbed the father of the girl, were caught by youths in the area and, they were subsequently burnt alive.

Source in the area claimed that the deceased were trying to force their way into the girl when an alarm raised by the father of the schoolgirl attracted youths in the area.

It was learnt that the incident happened on Wednesday around the popular Sublane Junction of the community.

The duo were also reported to have robbed the girl’s parents were caught while fleeing the scene of the crime.

According to a witness, the schoolgirl father, a truck driver, his wife and daughter, were attacked in their house in Uduaka area of the community.

It was further gathered that before police team could rushed to the scene, mob had already wear the suspects tyres and set them ablaze.

A source said, “After taking the couple’s phones and cash, they insisted on sleeping with the man’s 13-year old daughter. That was when the truck driver raised alarm.”

“They were set ablaze by angry youths in the presence of the vigilantes and before police could come, they were already burnt beyond recognition.”

The State Police Commissioner of Police, Mr Adeyinka Adeleke, could not be reached for confirmation as at the time of filing this report.

However, a police source confirmed the development, saying the matter was already being investigated.
