The group, led by former Delta State APC Chairman, Cyril Ogodo, said the move followed what it described as “extensive consultations across Urhobo land” and a growing consensus among stakeholders for credible and experienced representation.

Speaking with journalists after a strategic meeting with community leaders and party faithful, Ogodo said the group had resolved to mobilise grassroots support for Nani, whom he described as “a tested administrator with deep understanding” of the district’s needs.

“We are not driven by sentiment; we are driven by competence and capacity. Olorogun John Nani has demonstrated over the years that he possesses the leadership qualities required to represent Delta Central effectively at the National Assembly,” he said.

Ogodo stressed that the endorsement was anchored on Nani’s “track record of service, accessibility, and commitment to grassroots development,” warning that the district could not afford to “experiment with untested hands” at a critical time.

He disclosed that the group would commence a series of engagements across communities, wards, and local government areas within Delta Central to galvanise support and ensure the APC presents “a formidable and widely accepted candidate” in 2027.

“We have listened to our people—from elders to youths, from market women to professionals—and the message is clear: they want a representative who understands their struggles and can speak boldly for them,” he added.

Ogodo also called for unity within the APC fold in Delta Central, urging party members to close ranks and work towards a common goal as political activities gather momentum.

“Our mission is not just about supporting a candidate; it is about securing effective representation for our people. We believe John Nani embodies that vision,” he said.

He, however, acknowledged that the race may attract multiple aspirants but maintained that Nani remains “the most prepared and broadly acceptable choice.”

“As 2027 approaches, we will continue to engage, persuade, and mobilise. The future of Delta Central is too important to be left to chance,” Ogodo said.
