A Delta State-born United Nations Peace Ambassador and environmental rights activist, Comrade Mulade Sheriff, has assured the people of Warri Federal Constituency of his commitment to deepening unity, peace and development among the Ijaw, Itsekiri and Urhobo ethnic groups if elected to the House of Representatives in 2027.
Mulade, who is contesting the Warri Federal Constituency seat on the platform of the National Democratic Party (NDP), also promised quality representation capable of attracting greater federal attention, investments and development to the constituency.
He said his legislative agenda would focus on creating employment and empowerment opportunities for youths and women, while pursuing policies and interventions capable of unlocking the economic potential of Warri and its environs.
The House of Representatives hopeful, who is the Ibe-Sorimowei of the oil-rich Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, spoke during the official flag-off of his campaign and consultation meeting with citizens and supporters ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Mulade said the election should be about capacity, competence and the ability to deliver effective representation, stressing that the people of Warri Federal Constituency deserved a representative who could effectively articulate their interests before the Federal Government.
According to him, the constituency has suffered years of inadequate development, empowerment and federal attention despite its enormous contribution to the nation’s economy.
He said: “If elected in 2027 into the House of Representatives, Warri City and its environs would be given the deserved special attention through constructive advocacy and engagement with all relevant stakeholders.
“As the voice for the voiceless, I assure you that the voice of the Warri people will be heard constructively.”
The NDP candidate further pledged to collaborate with the local, state and Federal Governments to revive major economic infrastructure and institutions in the constituency.
He specifically mentioned the resuscitation of the Warri and Koko seaports and the development of the Warri Industrial Park as part of his proposed agenda for economic growth and employment generation.
“Please, kindly permit me to reassure the good and peace-loving people of Warri Federal Constituency, mainly the Ijaw, Itsekiri, Urhobo and residents, that I would work in collaboration with the local, state and Federal Governments to resuscitate the Warri and Koko Seaports, Warri Industrial Park and engage critical stakeholders to create employment opportunities and empowerment for our teeming youths and women through agriculture, fishery and skill acquisition programmes,” he said.
Mulade also dismissed the perception that his political ambition was motivated by the desire to participate in political gatherings without a clear developmental agenda.
“It is pertinent to state categorically that I am not here for a political funfair gathering to stand in the gap. Neither am I a political mole nor a placeholder, but I am here to close the gap through constructive advocacy, engagement and an inclusive approach,” he said.
He added: “I am not an emulator, photocopy, neither copyright candidate. I am the only independent and original voice to represent the good and peace-loving people of Warri Federal Constituency.”
The environmental rights activist called on the people of the constituency to reject ethnic divisions and embrace unity, stressing that sustained development could only be achieved when the different ethnic groups worked together.
“It is imperative to state that we cannot continue to fight ourselves, we cannot continue to deprive ourselves, we cannot continue to destroy ourselves.
“Therefore, now is the time for us to rise above the confines of our individualistic and ethnic considerations to a broader-based relationship built on trust, peace and unity across Warri Federal Constituency for development,” he said.
Mulade described himself as a critical stakeholder committed to people-oriented and inclusive representation, saying his aspiration was anchored on the need to deepen unity, peace, progress and development across Warri Federal Constituency and Delta State.
