Okiemute Ighorodje, the winner of MTN Project Fame season nine, has loss her mum, Mrs Lovette Ighorodje to the cold hands of death.
The Delta State-born singer won the 2016 edition of the singing competition.
Mrs. Ighorodje, reportedly died after she slumped during the maiden edition of Delta Elders’ Walk tournament held last Monday in Asaba, the Delta State capital.
The deceased, who was said to be full of life before the competition, slumped midway into the tournament around Mami Market area in Asaba.
Delta Elders’ Walk tournament is a ten kilometers walk aimed to promote fitness among elderly people in the state and was one of the activities marking the second term inauguration of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
The deceased, who hailed from Aboh on Ndokwa East Local Area of the state but married to the popular Ighorodje family from Oghara in Ethiope West LGA, is believed to be in her fifties.
She participated in the tournament’s category for ages of 55 and 70.
She was a staff of Guidance and Counselling department of Asagba Secondary School, Asaba.
Okiemute, who recently released video to her new song, ‘WOSA’, confirmed the demise of her a post on Instagram page.
The singer expressed shock at the passage of her mum, saying that she had planned to make her manager.
She eulogized her as the reason why she fights on this world, adding that she had hoped to continue to make her proud through her musical talent by travelling the world together.
She wrote, “Mummy is this how chose to leave me in this wicked world. Mummy, this isn’t what we planned. You were supposed to live and see me travel this world and travel with me. You were supposed to be my manager.
“I can’t ask God why and the dead can’t speak. My love, my sweetest mum, my gist partner, my dancing queen, my Ojo Obodo, my light in this dark world (you shine more as an angel in heaven), Nne mo, my reasons for fighting in this world.
“I am happy for the happy life you lived. Recently, you went hiking and laughed so hard when you sent me the pictures. Mummy, I won’t be sad no more. I’ll put on my red lipstick like you always do and say goodbye to you, till we meet to part no more.”
Mrs Ighorodje will be buried June 22, 2019, family sources told WARRI TODAY.
