The Executive Vice Chairman of the commission, Dr Aminu Maida, disclosed this during a media roundtable held in Ikeja, Lagos, on Thursday.

He said affected customers would start receiving compensation in the form of airtime “today or tomorrow,” following the commission’s directive to telecommunications operators.

Maida noted that the move was aimed at addressing recurring complaints from subscribers over service disruptions and poor network performance.

The EVC also said the commission was working closely with the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission to resolve issues surrounding suspended credit airtime and data services.

According to him, the collaboration would ensure that subscribers continue to enjoy seamless access to telecom services.

He clarified that telecom operators, being licensees of the NCC, were not required to obtain additional licences from the FCCPC.

However, he added that organisations providing credit facilities to subscribers must secure the necessary approvals from the consumer protection agency.
