The Council, therefore, described reports circulating on the social insinuating that unspecified number of persons would be killed ahead of the burial as “fake news”.

In a statement issued on Thursday by Secretary of Uvwie Traditional Council of Chiefs, Chief S. J. Eshenake, pleaded with the members of the public, indigenes and residents of Uvwie Kingdom to disregard the report.

The late Unuevworo of Uvwie and Ugbomro, High Chief Ambrose  Olughor, who died some months ago, would be buried this weekend at his country-home of Ugbomro in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.

According to Chief Eshenake, traditional rites preceding the burial of the senior Uvwie traditional chief do not involved killing of innocent residents or indigenes for the burial exercise.

It added, “There is no such activity among the activities lined up to give the late Unuvworo of Uvwie a befitting burial ceremony.

The statement also invites friends and well-wishers of Uvwie Kingdom to attend and witness the rich cultural display of Uvwie Chiefs and other groups on the burial day, 5th August, 2022.

It disclosed that Ugbomro market will be closed on the day of the burial in order to honour the late Unuevworo of Uvwie.

The statement further added that there will be free movements of vehicles and persons during the burial ceremony
