An operator of mobile cash point of sale (POS), Dennis Lvri, has been arrested for allegedly poisoning 19-year-old girl, Rejoice Abaribote, who work as a sales girl to the suspect in Bayelsa State.
Lvri was picked up by operatives of the Bayelsa Police Command on Friday following the circumstances that led to the demise of the young lady.
It was gathered that the suspect had reportedly accused the deceased of allegedly stealing his business money through suspicious transfer of funds to unknown persons.
Rejoice was reportedly found dead hours later after the disagreement at the POS stand along the popular DSP Alameiseigha Road as known as Hospital Road in Yenagoa.
The employer was alleged to have locked up the deceased in his office and subjected her to series of interrogation before her passage.
The suspect, however, did not inform the parents of the deceased who signed the surety before her employment of the said missing money.
The POS operator was alleged to have claimed that the deceased took a deadly substance suspected to be Sniper.
A family member of the deceased girl, names withheld, confirmed the incident, insisting that the POS operator has been handed to the Police for further investigations.
The family source aid “The accused came to the deceased father’s house three days after the incident to inform them that our sister and daughter died from suicide.
“He claimed that she transferred N200, 000. Later said it N150, 000 unknown persons which she could not accounted for”
Contacted on the development, the Spokesman of the Bayelsa Police Command, Asinim Butswat, confirmed the incident and said the suspect is in the custody of the Area Divisional headquarters for investigations.
