REJOINDER: Transferred Delta DPOs, Others Not Replaced By Northern Officers

Following further investigation into the transferred of 62 Divisional Police Officers and Head of Units in the Delta State Police Command, NIGER DELTA TODAY Online can clarified that the transferred officers were not replaced by officers of northern extraction as alleged in our earlier report.

It was further clarified that the transfer of the officers was in line with the rules of engagement.

In a statement issued by the Managing Editor of NIGER DELTA TODAY Online, Mr Theophilus Onojeghen, the medium regret the misgiving and apologise to the Nigeria Police Force especially the commissioner of police in Delta State, Mr. Hafiz Inuwa.

“Following further investigations concerning the crisis trailing the transfer of 62 officers of the Delta State Police Command, this medium (NIGER DELTA TODAY Online) found that some allegation in our May 2nd report could not be expatiated.

“We can also report from our investigation that the transfer of the officers has nothing to do with ethnic or religious cleansing as alleged in the report. Our investigation also showed that the State Police Commissioner, Mr. Hafiz Inuwa, also did not influence the transfer.

“The management of NIGER DELTA TODAY Online tenders an unreserved apology to the Inspector General of Police and the Commissioner of Police in Delta for the misgiving in the report. This rebuttal is necessitated because of core value of reporting ‘News You Can Trust’.”
