The South-South Governors Forum (SSGF) has declared its solidarity and support for first-term governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the party’s scheduled governorship primaries slated for Thursday, May 21, 2026.
In a statement issued by the Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, the governors praised their APC counterparts for what they described as visionary leadership and commitment to the development of their respective states.
The forum noted that the first-term governors have distinguished themselves through impactful governance, grassroots development initiatives, and policies aimed at strengthening economic growth across the country.
According to the statement, the governors have also recorded remarkable achievements in critical sectors such as infrastructure, healthcare, education, and social welfare, resulting in tangible transformation within their states.
The SSGF expressed confidence that granting the governors a second term in office would further accelerate infrastructural development and economic prosperity, not only in their respective states but also across Nigeria.
“On behalf of the South-South Governors Forum, I extend best wishes for peaceful and successful governorship primaries,” the statement read.
The forum further expressed optimism that democratic principles would prevail during the exercise and that the governors’ contributions to governance and development would be rewarded by members of the APC.
