A viral video of APC House of Representatives aspirant for Etsako Federal Constituency, Blessing Agbomhere, helping elderly women fry garri in Edo State has triggered widespread reactions across social media.
The video, which surfaced online on Saturday, May 9, 2026, showed the APC chieftain participating in the local cassava-processing activity alongside elderly women believed to be from a community in Okpella, Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State.
The footage quickly gained traction online, with many users sharing mixed reactions over the politician’s appearance at the local processing site.
Some social media users praised the gesture and described it as evidence of grassroots connection and humility while others questioned the reason behind the action.
According to Ossile Duru a Facebook user said “during election, they will fry Garri and drink bolehole water, after election, they will show their real face”
“He’s relating with the people directly. Politics aside, this is the kind of thing many politicians avoid,” a Anite Ameh an X user commented.
Others, however, questioned the timing of the gesture, suggesting it could be linked to political calculations ahead of the 2027 elections.
“So politicians have moved from sharing rice to frying garri now?” another user reacted.
Another commenter wrote, “Campaign season is gradually approaching. Everybody suddenly remembers the grassroots.”
Agbomhere, who has been linked to the race for the House of Representatives seat in Etsako Federal Constituency under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has recently intensified consultations and political engagements across communities in the constituency.
As of Saturday evening, there was no official statement from Agbomhere’s media team concerning the viral video, although several online platforms identified him as the politician seen assisting the women during the garri-frying exercise.
