Delta Customary Court Of Appeal President Lauds Agbarha Warri Monarch For Renovating Court Building

The Ovie of Agbarha Warri Kingdom in Warri South Local Government of Delta State, His Royal Majesty, King Kingsley Emakpo Orereh, Igbi ll, has been commended for the renovation and furnishing of the Agbarha District Customary Court in Otovwodo community in Warri South.

 

The President of the Delta State Customary Court Appeal, Hon. Justice Ngozi Ojugbana-Oritsedere, gave the commendation when she led top members of the state judiciary on a thank-you visit to the Agbarha monarch at his palace in Ogunu.

 

Justice Ojugbana-Oritsedere, who was at the monarch’s palace to pay homage before inaugurating the court building, described the newly renovated Agbarha Customary Court as one of the best customary court buildings in the state with modern facilities.

While paying homage to the traditional ruler for his foresight in ensuring that government projects within his domain are given a facelift, the Delta Customary Court President tasked other royal fathers and community leaders in the state to emulate the gesture.

Justice Ojugbana-Oritsedere was accompanied on the visit by some judges and senior staff of the State Customary Court of Appeal including Justice Dele Okafor, Justice Abanre, Justice Gberevbie, Justice Akumagba, Justice Gbakeji, Justice Uraih, Bridget Ojeikere (Chief Registrar, DSCCA), Imade Ene-Edah (Deputy Chief Registrar, DSCCA), Augustine Chiejine (DPM) and Ighoteguono Egbo (Chief Accountant, DSCCA).

 

Speaking before heading for the commissioning of the project, Justice Ojugbana-Oritsedere told the monarch, “What you (Ovie of Agbarha) have done for us is amazing. We’re at the town hall, and we were not comfortable in that place.

“What you have done for us, we want other communities to come and emulate it. If other communities help us like this, we won’t have problems with accommodation. Your Royal Majesty, we are eternally grateful to you for this accommodation provided with a generator set, borehole, air condition and furniture. It’s indeed a modern court.

 

“I listen to your speech, and we will see what we can do in that regard. The community has been a peaceful community, even when we had issues with one member. The community didn’t take up arms against us. It was amicably resolved. Thank you to the Kingdom of Agbarha for this great gesture to the judiciary. I promise you that with all the facilities you have provided, we will look after them.”

Earlier in his remark, Ovie of Agbarha Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Igbi ll, told Justice Ojugbana-Oritsedere and her delegation that the Kingdom would continue to collaborate with all levels and arms of governments in the area.

 

He noted that the renovation of the Agbarha District Customary Court is one of the many projects he has embarked upon since his ascension to the throne of his forefathers, adding that his reign would continue to ensure government facilities within the Kingdom enjoy similar gestures.

The revered monarch, however, appealed to the President of the State Customary Court of Appeal to consider the employment opportunities for his subjects in the state judiciary.

 

It was gathered that the court had been using a rented apartment close to the Agbassa shrine before the intervention of the monarch.

 

Recall that the Agbarha Warri monarch recently donated medical equipment worth several millions of naira to the management of the Central Hospital Warri in furtherance of his commitment to ensure that his subjects and residents of the city enjoy quality healthcare.

Igbi ll was joined to receive Justice Ojugbana-Oritsedere and her delegation by the Ovie of Idjerhe Kingdom, His Majesty, King Monday Obokuwho Whiskey, PhD, Udurhie 1 alongside senior Agbarha Warri and Idjerhe chiefs.
