There was a mild-drama at 1st Marine Gate off Gbiaye Street in Warri, Delta State on Monday as a woman suspected to mentally deranged delivered a baby girl in the open.

The woman was said to be wearing the re-election campaign T-shirt of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State.

She was simply identified as Madam Calabar. WARRI TODAY could not ascertained her real name. She was learnt to hails from Cross River State.

It was learnt that a policewoman living around the area had allegedly take custody of the baby when the lady takes custody of the baby.

Sources in the area told our correspondent that several unknown men had been visiting a makeshift building where the lunatic woman has been residing.

It was not clear, which of the men who had been visiting her, impregnated her.

It was not clear which of the men owned the pregnancy.

Residents particularly women had rushed to the scene of delivery upon hearing the sound of the baby cry when the mentally deranged woman delivered in the early hours of Monday.

The women including the policewoman were learnt to have clean the woman up and gave her first aid to ensure she was stable.

The female Police officer was learnt to have carried the baby to her apartment for immediate care.
After much interrogation, the female Police Officer zoomed off in her car with the baby under the pretence of taking her to Child Welfare Unit under the Delta State Ministry of Women Affairs only to return to the “B” Division in Warri.

A team of policemen from the “A” Division led by the Divisional Police Officer, SP Olawale Ayoola were later learnt to have stormed the scene with the baby girl and carried the mother(lunatic) to the unknown hospital for medical treatment.

They prevented journalists from the Warri Correspondent Chapel of the Nigeria union of Journalists from taking pictures of the new born-baby.
