Postponement of polls won’t change God’s will for Nigeria in 2019 elections – PFN

Bishop Simeon Okah

The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has finally reacted to the postponement of the 2019 General Elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission, saying that not even a change of date would changed the outcome of next Saturday’s elections.

PFN, particularly, charged Nigerians to remain undeterred and turn out en mass on Saturday to vote for the candidates of their choice for the common good of the country.

In a statement on Monday signed by PFN National Vice President, Bishop Simeon Okah, urged Nigerians to remain positive in spite of the shift in date of the elections.

INEC had on Saturday announced the postponement of the elections by additional one week owing to logistics problems.

PFN, however, said “Let us all understand that postponement of election date cannot postpone or change the will of God. We must remain positive and speak positively to all our neighbours. Speak positively about the elections.

“We must remain resolute and ensure we cast our votes. No action should weigh us down or deter us . Except you want things to remain the way they are. But if you want real change, then be ready to make all sacrifice.

“By the grace of God, next Saturday, we should all come out again and ensure we vote. We do not have any country other than Nigeria. We must remain and build it together. God will not allow the devises of the enemies of this nation to prevail.”

Okah, who is the presiding bishop of Flock Christ Mission, urged Nigerians particularly Christians to read,  “The Lord bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: he maketh the devices of the people of none effect. The counsel of the Lord standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations. Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance. (Psalm 33 v 10 – 12).”
