The Delta State Government says it would spend N100m for the rebuilding of the State High Court Complex which was razed by hoodlums who reportedly hijacked the #EndSARS protest in Asaba.
The State Commissioner for Housing, Festus Ochonogor, who said the court complex was completely ruined, noted that the state government would rebuild the complex afresh.
Ochonogor joined by the State Chief Judge, Justice Marshall Umukoro; Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Peter Mrakpor and Commissioner for Information, Charles Aniagwu, disclosed this on Thursday during an inspection visit to the premises.
The court was razed by miscreants who hijacked the hitherto peaceful#EndSARS protest last month. The state multi-million recreational park at Koka junction along the Benin-Asaba-Onitsha was also razed.
The commissioner stated that experts from the ministry had been working on the new design to produce a new structure between now and the end of the year.
On his part, the Chief Judge, Justice Umukoro described the burning of the court as a major setback to the judiciary, adding that all the court documents were burnt.
