Delta State governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, has appointed a former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Chief Ovie Festus Agas, as his new Chief of Staff.
Agas’ appointment was contained in a statement on Wednesday signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Chief Patrick Ukah.
He hails from Ughelli in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta Central Senatorial District of the state.
He is replacing Olorogun David Edvbie who was fired alongside members of the State Executive Council last month by the governor. Edvbie also hails from Ughelli.
The new Chief of Staff was a former Deputy Speaker of the state’s House of Assembly during the administration of former Governor James Ibori.
He was SSG under Governor Okowa’s first term as governor between 2015 and 2019.
He is being rumoured to be interested to succeed Governor Okowa in 2023 governorship election in the state.
According to the statement, Agas would be sworn in a later date.
