The National Economic Council (NEC) Implementation Monitoring Committee (IMC) has commended the Edo State Government for its implementation of projects aimed at improving the livelihoods of residents.

The leader of the committee, Mrs. Busayo Awotunde, gave the commendation on Tuesday after the team inspected selected projects being executed by the state government in Benin.

Awotunde said the projects demonstrated the state’s commitment to implementing resolutions of the National Economic Council and improving the welfare of its citizens.

She said the committee would report that the Edo State Government had aligned with the council’s objectives by investing resources in projects designed to enhance economic activities and public infrastructure.

Earlier, the Edo Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Dr. Elizabeth Ebosele, said the committee’s visit was part of its mandate to assess projects executed by the state in line with NEC resolutions.

Ebosele said one of the projects inspected was the Ramat Park Flyover, which she said was conceived to ease traffic congestion and improve the ease of doing business in the state.

According to her, the flyover is nearing completion and is expected to be inaugurated soon.

She said the project would improve access for traders, motorists and other road users, while enhancing economic activities along the corridor.

The commissioner added that the flyover links the federal highway connecting Edo with northern Nigeria, making it a strategic infrastructure project.

Also speaking, the Deputy Governor of Edo, Dennis Idahosa, commended the committee for concluding its three-day assessment of projects in the state.

Idahosa said infrastructure projects initiated by the state government were being executed across the three senatorial districts, adding that the administration remained committed to delivering projects that would promote economic growth and improve the well-being of residents.
