Oborevwori Donates Five Operational Vehicles To Delta Correctional Service


Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has donated five brand-new operational vehicles, popularly known as “Green Marias,” to the Delta State Command of the Nigerian Correctional Service to strengthen the administration of justice and enhance security operations across the state.

 

Presenting the vehicles, Governor Oborevwori said the donation reflects his administration’s unwavering commitment to supporting institutions responsible for maintaining peace, security and the rule of law.

 

The Governor noted that efficient correctional services depend on reliable logistics and mobility, stressing that the vehicles would improve the operational capacity of the command in carrying out its constitutional responsibilities.

 

He explained that although the Nigerian Correctional Service is a federal institution, its role remains critical to the safety and well-being of Deltans, adding that his administration would continue to partner federal security agencies under the Enhanced Peace and Security pillar of the MORE Agenda.

 

“The presentation of these five brand-new operational vehicles (Green Marias) to the Delta State Command of the Nigerian Correctional Service is a donation that practically demonstrates our resolve to strengthen the justice system and support the institutions responsible for maintaining peace, security and the rule of law, bearing in mind that an efficient correctional service depends on reliable logistics and mobility.

“While the Nigerian Correctional Service is a federal institution, its role is critical to the safety, security and well-being of our people. That is why, under the fourth pillar of our MORE Agenda – Enhanced Peace and Security – we will continue to support and partner with federal security agencies.

 

“A secure and peaceful Delta State remains the foundation for sustainable development and shared prosperity,” the Governor said.

 

Oborevwori urged officers of the Correctional Service to ensure proper maintenance of the vehicles and deploy them strictly for official duties.

 

“To the State Controller and officers of the Command, I urge you to maintain these vehicles properly and ensure they are used solely for their intended purpose, with the highest standards of professionalism and accountability,” he added.

 

Responding, the Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Mr. Sylvester Nwackuche, represented by the Controller of Corrections, Delta State Command, Mr. Chuke Idoko, expressed appreciation to the Governor and the Delta State Government for the gesture.

He assured that the operational vehicles would be deployed effectively to enhance the command’s service delivery and improve correctional operations across the state.

 

The presentation was witnessed by the Secretary to the Delta State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu, commissioners, senior government officials and top officers of the Nigerian Correctional Service.
