The Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) Worldwide has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for approving the establishment of the Federal Polytechnic, Orogun, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
President Buhari, according to the Federal Ministry of Education, had approved the establishment of the institution with academic activities billed to commenced from October 2022.
UPU, the apex socio-cultural umbrella body of Urhobo people worldwide, described the approval as elating to the people of Delta Central, Urhobo Nation and Delta State as it will help address youth’s restiveness in the region.
In a statement signed by the President-General of UPU, Olorogun Moses Taiga, expressed deep gratitude to the President and the Federal Ministry of Education for the establishment of the polytechnic.
“It is also our hope and prayer that the necessary funding, quality manpower and necessary infrastructural development will further be provided by the relevant agencies to complement this noble gesture of President Buhari”, UPU PG noted.
The UPU also hailed the Deputy Senate President, Senator Omo-Agege, for being a great representative and worthy son, urging him not to relent in his advocacy of better dealings for the people of Delta Central Senatorial District, Delta State and the South South.
Taiga added, “The UPU is immensely proud of you for initiating the move to establish this institution, among other interventions and ongoing projects you have attracted to Delta Central. We also thank members of the National Assembly for graciously passing the bill into law for the establishment of this polytechnic. “
