Pandemonium As Three Siblings Drown In Ebonyi River

Police in Ebonyi State have confirmed the death of three siblings who were drowned in a river in Amazu Amaeze Ishiagu Ivo, in Ivo Local Government Area of the state.

The three sisters were mysteriously drowned in the river at Amaeze in Ivo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State on 28.

The siblings were recovered and buried immediately by the riverside according to the tradition.

The siblings, Chika, Chinelo and Chisom were seen floating on the river on Tuesday, 28 April after the parents declared them missing.

Report says before their death, the siblings were students of comprehensive secondary School Ishiagu.

In a statement from the office of the Police Public Relations Officer(PPRO),  DSP Loveth Odah, confirmed the report, saying the deceased bodies were recovered and buried immediately as the family said they were not suspecting any foul play.

Odah described the death of the siblings as “sudden and unnatural death.”

The statement read, “Today 28th April, 2020 at about 1100am One Amamuche Okoro Aja ‘m’ of Amauzu Amaeze Ishiagu in Ivo L.G.A of Ebonyi State, reported at Ivo Divisional Headquarters that on the 25/04/2020 at about 1112am himself and the wife One Catharine Okoro ‘f’ went to the farm together with their three (3) children namely; One Chisom Goodness Okoro ‘f’ 18yrs of age, Chinelo Covenant Okoro ‘f’ 15yrs of age and Chika Godwin Okoro ‘m’ 14yrs of age, that after much work the children excused themselves to get refreshed at a nearby river, sensing that they had stayed to long, he sent his wife to call the children only to find out that they have all drowned in the said river.

“Mr. Okoro Aja narrated further that the three (3) corpses were recovered and buried immediately as there is no foul play suspected.

“Following the report, the Divisional Police officer of the Area led a team of Police detective to the scene of the incident and immediately commenced investigation into the matter.

“Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police Ebonyi State, CP Awosola Awotinde mourns and commiserates  with the deceased family, the general public especially the people of Amauzu-Amaeze Ishiagu in Ivo L.G.A of the State, for such unfortunate incident.”
