Prof. Amos Utuama: Ughievwen Kingdom Has Lost An Icon, Says Izeze

Delta State Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads) Comrade Reuben Izeze has paid tribute to the departed former Deputy Governor of the state, Professor Amos Utuama SAN.

In a statement made available to journalists on Sunday, Izeze who represented the demised silk in the Delta State House of Assembly described Utuama as the icon of Ughievwen people.

He said the deceased Professor of Law served the state with honour and credibility and praised his efforts at developing his community and Urhobo nation at large.

The statement read: “I received with shock the sad news of the translation to glory of Professor Amos Utuama, SAN, one of the very finest lawyer the Urhobo nation has ever produced.

“One of the finest academician the Urhobo nation has ever produced, a very fine gentleman, humble and a man who never hid his feelings whenever he felt he was undermined.

“He was a man who followed whatever he believed in tenaciously to a logical conclusion, yet a father to all.

“A man of very decent upbringing and a man who did his best within his ability to ensure that he served his people with honour and credibility.

“Prof. Utuama was not just a former Deputy Governor of Delta State, he was not just a silk, Prof. Utuama was the icon of the Ughievwen people.

“He was particularly concerned and interested in the upliftment of Otu-Ughievwen as a community from the backward state it holds today to something closed to what he would achieve in his life time.

“But despite his struggles and commitment, he may not have realised his dreams to see Otu-Ughievwen become a modern city instead of the rural community it still looks like even today.

“Nonetheless, he gave his very best to the upliftment of the Ughievwen people, the Urhobo nation and Delta State.

“It is therefore my hope that the children he left behind will take solace in the fact that their father lived a very worthy life and it is our hope that God will grant them the fortitude to bear this very great and irreplaceable loss.

“May his soul rest in peace. Amen!!!”
