A former governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, has felicitated with the Orodje Okpe Kingdom and chairman of the Delta State Traditional Rulers’ Council, His Royal Majesty, Major General Felix Mujakperuo (retd.), Orhue 1, on his installation as the Chancellor of the Nigerian Army University Biu, Borno State.
Uduaghan also congratulated the revered Okpe monarch on the conferment of a Doctorate of Laws (LL.D) honoris causa by the University.
Orhue 1 was on Saturday installed as the Chancellor of the Nigerian Army University Biu, Borno State, following his appointment by President Bola Tinubu.
In statement on Sunday by his Media Assistant, Mr. Monoyo Edon, Uduaghan described the appointment as well deserved considering the monarch’s successful military career before being enthroned to sit on the seat of his forefathers a traditional ruler.
The former governor, however, commended President Bola Tinubu and former President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing Orodje of Okpe, who had also previously served as the Chancellor of Anambra State University, to contribute to the development of the Army prime University.
“His Excellency, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, CON, former Governor of Delta State has joined the Governor of Delta, the good people of Okpe kingdom and the entire Delta State in congratulating the Orodje of Okpe and Chairman, Delta State Traditional Rulers’ Council on his well deserved installation as the pioneer Chancellor of the Nigerian Army University, Biu, Borno State and his conferment of a Doctorate of Laws (LL.D) honoris causa.
“Upon receiving the news earlier today, Dr. Uduaghan thanked former President Muhammadu Buhari and President Tinubu for the successful installation of the monarch and opined that the Nigerian Army University, Biu (NAUB) could not have nominated a worthy and well-deserving Nigerian to bestow the double honours.
“He described the Orodje as a bridge-builder and consummate traditional leader who would bring his long years of military experience and pan Nigerian disposition to bear on his new role in service of Nigeria.
“It would also be recalled that last year, former President Muhammadu Buhari conferred on the Orodje, the prestigious national honour of Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR) alongside other eminent Nigerians”, the statement added.
