The governorship candidate of the Movement for the Restoration and Defense of Democracy (MRDD) in the 2019 governorship election in Delta State, Engr. Lucky Oyovwi, has endorsed Olorogun David Edevbie for the forthcoming 2023 governorship election in the state.

Edevbie, a former commissioner for finance and immediate past Chief of Staff to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, is one of the leading governorship aspirants on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Oyovwi, who contested the 2019 governorship election against Governor Okowa, said Edevbie is the most competent among the crop of politicians jostling to succeed Okowa in the forthcoming election in the state.

The businessman turned politician stated this in a statement on Friday sent from his Birmingham residence in the United Kingdom.

He said Delta requires brilliant leadership that would propel the State for true infrastructural and economic development.

Engr. Oyovwi, who is the Managing Director of DEBULGE Group of Companies and the CEO of Self-Serve Apartments, added that Edevbie is an epitome of character whose competence portrays both skills, ability, integrity and honesty.

“There is no better governorship aspirant than Edevbie at this crucial time that Delta State is yearning for modernization and industrialization.

“Edevbie is vast with huge wealth of experience in governance having been the Principal Secretary to late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua who is arguably the best president in Nigeria history.

“Further, Edevbie is an excellent finance mogul who was able to manage the State finances during very difficult times, while he was the State Commissioner for Finance.  For instance, despite the scarce financial resources during the global recession that was felt across the nation, Delta State workers’ salaries were consistently paid unlike many other states that didn’t pay for several months.

“Deltans are tired of ineffectiveness!  We have to move away from mediocrity that breeds malfeasance and miscreants. Edevbie does not tolerate mediocrity. We have known Edevbie as a man of excellence and decency that insists on orderliness and accountability, which are prerequisite for greatness. In addition, Edevbie has high level intelligence and has consistently displayed brilliance, diligence, devotion and commitment to duties for the state.

“Deltans are fed up with stagnation, and it is time to move forward with Olorogun David Edevbie that has genuine intentions to revamp the state”, the statement added.

Oyovwi, therefore, asked his supporters and the good people of Delta State to queue behind Olorogun Edevbie at the appropriate time to ensure he (Edevbie) becomes the governor of Delta come 2023.
