The founding leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, has been called upon to declare interest and contest the Senate seat for Delta Central Senatorial District in the forthcoming 2027 general election.

The groups, Emerhor Political Family (EPF) and Delta Central Youth Council (DCYC), said the time had come for Emerhor to represent the district in the Senate, citing his contributions to building the party in the state.

The call was made on Monday during a visit to his country home in Evwerni, Ughelli North Local Government Area, led by Chairman of EPF Elders, Martins Owhoevwo, and former ambassador, Frank Efeduma, among others.

Speaking, Owhoevwo described Emerhor as a unifying figure whose leadership had helped transform the APC into a formidable political force in Delta State.

He said the party structure, built through years of sacrifice and inclusion, had positioned Emerhor as a natural choice for the senatorial seat.

Also speaking, a Delta State House of Assembly aspirant, Mudiaga Okorefe, called for fairness in the rotation of political offices, stressing that leadership opportunities should not be concentrated in one axis.

He said the visit was a collective appeal, adding that party members were ready to mobilise once Emerhor declares.

Similarly, Godwin Ohwoekevwo urged the APC leader to heed the call, assuring him of grassroots support ahead of the party primaries.

Other stakeholders, including Kennedy Okparavero and Enakurerhi Oghenemine, also backed the call, urging the party to recognise Emerhor’s longstanding contributions.

Responding, Emerhor thanked his supporters for their loyalty and sacrifices since 2013, when the APC was formed.

He recalled being the first to contest on the party’s platform in Delta State and its governorship candidate in 2015, noting that those efforts helped lay the foundation for the party’s growth.

“I appreciate this show of confidence and the trust you have placed in me,” he said.

While acknowledging his capacity to contest, Emerhor said he would not rush into a decision, noting that consultations were ongoing.

“We must be mindful of the present realities and dynamics within the party. I am still consulting widely to ensure that any decision aligns with the broader interests of the party and our people,” he added.

He assured supporters that they would be informed once consultations are concluded.
