The people of Ozoro Kingdom in Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State have unanimously endorsed Blessing Oghale Obomovo as their sole candidate for the Isoko Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement, which cuts across political affiliations, positions Obomovo as the consensus choice of the kingdom, ahead of other aspirants, including the incumbent lawmaker, Jonathan Ajirioghene Ukodhiko.
The decision was reached during a well-attended gathering at Opute Hall in Ozoro, where political leaders, traditional authorities, women groups and youth representatives converged in a show of unity and purpose.
At the event, stakeholders described the endorsement as a defining moment for Ozoro Kingdom, stressing that it reflected a collective resolve to present a credible and widely accepted candidate to represent Isoko Nation at the Green Chamber.
Speaking on behalf of the people, the President-General of Ozoro Progressive Union, Berkley Asiafa, said the kingdom had spoken with one voice and would mobilise its full political strength to ensure Obomovo’s victory at the polls.
He noted that the endorsement was not merely symbolic but a commitment by the people to rally support across communities and ensure that their collective aspiration translates into electoral success.
The unity of the kingdom was further demonstrated by the endorsement from all five blocs of Ozoro – Uroto, Erovie, Etevie, Urude and Orumudhe – which jointly adopted Obomovo as their preferred candidate.
Erovie, identified as the maternal home of the aspirant, played a central role in the gathering, reinforcing the deep-rooted connection between Obomovo and the kingdom.
The endorsement also received the backing of key traditional and community institutions, including palace representatives led by Solomon Akani; the Odiologbo of Erovie, Odio Tobi; and the Oletu-logbo of Ozoro Kingdom, Oletu Egbamuno.
Women and youth groups were not left out, with Ewheya leadership under Comfort Ikrege and youth representatives led by Marvis Ogbu affirming their commitment to mobilise grassroots support for the aspirant.
The event, which also hosted members of the OghaleIsoko2027 political structure, was marked by a strong sense of consensus, as speakers repeatedly emphasised the need for unity, inclusiveness and strategic positioning ahead of the elections.
