A suspected armed robber has been reportedly set ablaze for killing his victim after dispossessing him of his belongings at the popular Five-Junction in Agbarho community, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
WARRI TODAY gathered that the incident occurred on Thursday night at about 8pm.
It was learnt that the suspect who was a member of a three-man armed robbery gang was apprehended by residents who chased after the hoodlums after killing their victim.
The suspect was said to have ran out of luck when witnesses at the scene raised the alarm of the robbery incident thereby drawing the attention of youths who immediately went after the gunmen.
Two of the three-man gang were said to have escaped during the manhunt.
According to sources, “The suspected armed robber in his bid to escape shot sporadically into the air with a locally made pistol until he ran out of bullet. He was apprehended and beaten thoroughly before he was set ablaze.
The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, confirmed the incident on phone when contacted.
But he, however, warned residents against jungle justice, saying that law enforcement must be allowed to do their job of prosecution of such cases.
