Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Senator Ede Dafinone, has congratulated former Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, and Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas on their emergence as candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Delta North and Delta South senatorial districts respectively.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, Dafinone described their victories at the recently concluded APC senatorial primaries as a reflection of the confidence and trust reposed in them by delegates, party leaders, and stakeholders across the state.
The Delta Central lawmaker also expressed satisfaction with the peaceful and orderly conduct of the primaries across the three senatorial districts, noting that the exercise demonstrated the unity, strength, and improving internal democratic culture within the APC in Delta State.
According to him, the emergence of experienced politicians such as Okowa and Onowakpo would further strengthen the party’s structure and enhance its chances in future electoral contests, particularly ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Dafinone urged party faithful, supporters, and stakeholders across Delta State’s three senatorial districts to remain united and committed to the collective goal of delivering progress, development, and effective representation to the people.
He stressed that unity within the party remained critical to sustaining momentum and consolidating gains made during the primaries, adding that internal cohesion would position the APC for greater success in subsequent elections.
