The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has responded to allegation by youth leaders of the various ethnic nationalities in Delta State that he has concluded plans to sponsor political thugs to work for the victory of the state governorship candidate, Chief Great Ogboru.

Oshiomhole replied the youths by saying APC and Chief Great do need political thugs to defeat Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Saturday’s governorship election in the state.

The former Edo State governor spoke on Thursday with WARRI TODAY through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Simon Ebegbulem, while also debunking allegation that he would come to the state to manipulate outcome of the election in the favour of the APC candidate.

The APC National chairman posited that Okowa will not survive the onslaught of angry Deltans who are tired of the reign of the PDP since 1999 till date to replace him with Ogboru whom the people had always stood for in all previous election.

He stressed, “Oshiomhole is not coming to Delta on Election Day. This is lie by the PDP and those who are scared of Oshiomhole. We have capable men and women in Delta State that will defeat Governor Okowa and enthrone Great Ogboru as the next governor of Delta State on Saturday.

“Oshiomhole does not need to be in Delta State for APC to defeat Okowa. The people of Delta State are tired of the PDP administration in Delta State and what they have done to the state since 1999. Oshiomhole has told Deltans that APC is bringing good and better governance, and the people of the state have accepted that. Come Saturday, the people of Delta State will vote out Okowa.”

Oshiomhole noted that people of Delta were tired of the Okowa-led PDP government thus they have decided to choose to vote for Ogboru as their next governor in this Saturday governorship election.

The former labour leader stated that APC also has no intention of using ‘federal might’ as was the case with PDP to wrestle power from the ruling PDP in the state.

“Those who are making such frivolous allegations are people who are afraid of APC and the kind of impact the APC has made in the South South. The APC National chairman is somebody everybody knows believes in democracy that launched one man one vote in Edo State.

“He’s a known democrat and he has fought doggedly for democracy in this country. He believes that people should earn their votes and he has always campaigned vigorously for the success of his party unlike the days of PDP where they used ‘Federal Might.’

“In this case, APC works for all their votes and they don’t believe in thuggery. Of course, you heard Mr. President when he directed the security agencies to deal severely with anyone involved in thuggery.”

“All those who are always mentioning Oshiomhole are those who are scared of his impact since he became the national chairman of APC. He is a man that is so angry with what PDP has done to this country, and he has come with the progressives ideas that will propagate the ideology of the APC. Oshiomhole has never believed in thuggery”, Oshiomhole further added
