By Mercy Jerry

Thousands of protesting students of the Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro in the Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State have blocked the school section of the busy Ughelli/Asaba expressway.

The students also locked the main entrance gate into the institution over alleged new policies introduced by the management of the polytechnic.

NIGER DELTA TODAY learnt that commuters plying the route have been stranded for over three hours as result of the protest.

It was gathered that the management of the institution had introduced new policies including a ban on students driving their vehicles into the school premises.

The protest, our correspondent learnt, is being led by officials of the Students Union Government (SUG).

The protesters are demanding the school management to urgently rescind the new policies they described as anti-students.

As at the time of filing this report, the students are still rioting and they have taken over the school security house.
