Chieftains of the All Progressives Congress in Delta Central have intensified calls on former lawmaker, Hon. Chief Solomon Ahwinahwi, to declare his intention to contest the Ughelli North/Ughelli South/Udu Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 general elections.
The growing agitation, it was gathered, is being driven by key political stakeholders across the three local government areas, who are urging the former legislator to heed what they describe as widespread demand for experienced and effective representation at the National Assembly.
Although Ahwinahwi has yet to make a formal declaration, reliable sources disclosed that consultations are ongoing, with influential party figures and grassroots mobilisers mounting pressure on him to join the race.
Findings indicate that the calls have gained momentum in recent weeks, with party loyalists and community leaders aligning around the need to present a formidable candidate capable of uniting the constituency.
In separate remarks, notable APC stakeholders, including Chief Miller Orido from Agbarho in Ughelli North Local Government Area, Comrade Save Maka from Ughelli South, and Chief Harrison Veta from Udu, commended Ahwinahwi’s track record in public service and grassroots engagement.
They described him as a “tested and trusted leader” with the capacity to deliver quality representation and attract development to the constituency.
Orido said the constituency requires a leader with deep understanding of legislative processes and the needs of the people, noting that Ahwinahwi possesses the political will and national connections to make meaningful impact.
“We need someone who has the experience and the network to speak for our people and bring development closer to them. Hon. Ahwinahwi has shown that capacity over time,” he stated.
Also speaking, Maka emphasised the need for continuity in quality representation, urging the former lawmaker to respond positively to the growing calls from party faithful and constituents.
He noted that recent conversations across political platforms suggest a strong backing for Ahwinahwi’s possible candidacy.
“If the mood of the people is anything to go by, then the direction is clear. This is the time for him to answer the call,” he said.
On his part, Veta described Ahwinahwi as a political rallying point whose entrance into the race would galvanise support across Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu, strengthening the party’s chances in the constituency.
Political observers say the rising endorsements point to early alignments within the APC as preparations for the 2027 elections begin to take shape.
As of the time of filing this report, Ahwinahwi has neither confirmed nor denied his ambition, but close associates hinted that a formal declaration may be imminent.
