Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Ede Dafinone, has congratulated Chief Oghenero Okoro and Mrs Gladys Aghogho Okpomor on their election as First Vice President and Assistant General Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association, respectively, describing their emergence as a victory for merit, excellence and service.
Dafinone, in a statement on Sunday, said the election of the two legal practitioners to the NBA’s national executive marked a proud moment for the Urhobo Nation, Delta State and the country.
He said the victories of Okoro and Okpomor reflected years of distinguished legal practice, exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to justice and the rule of law.
The lawmaker described the duo as worthy ambassadors of the Urhobo Nation, noting that their emergence into the association’s top hierarchy was a testament to their competence, integrity and professionalism.
According to him, Okoro’s tenure as Chairman of the NBA Warri Branch and Okpomor’s service as Assistant General Secretary of the Young Lawyers Forum, Minna Branch, prepared them for the responsibilities of their new offices.
“Their election did not come as a surprise. It is a fitting reward for years of professionalism, diligence and hard work that truly embody the enduring Urhobo Can-Do Spirit,” the statement read.
Dafinone urged the newly elected officials to deploy their experience in advancing the vision of the NBA, strengthening the legal profession and promoting reforms that would enhance public confidence in Nigeria’s justice system.
He expressed confidence that they would uphold the highest ethical standards, defend judicial independence and contribute meaningfully to the growth of constitutional democracy and the rule of law.
The senator also said the achievements of the two lawyers should serve as inspiration to young professionals across Delta Central and the country, stressing that integrity, resilience, competence and selfless service remained the foundation of enduring leadership.
He wished the NBA officers wisdom, strength and divine guidance as they assume office, expressing optimism that their tenure would bring greater honour to the legal profession, lasting pride to the Urhobo Nation and meaningful value to the nation.
