Dear Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, hope you are well this memo is about your political process regarding your decision to contest for president in 2023 which already going on. I am sure you never forget those betrayed you while in office and after left. Let you understand the scheme to bring him back to Aso Rock is designed to humiliate you. Sadly, the former President appears to have caught in the bait of the schemers, who appear adamant on leading him on another self-inflicted political misadventure and ultimate defeat at the presidential primary of the APC.

Don’t let deceivers deceived you, Allah vindicates you for being a people’s leader while you are a president of the country but Nigerians especially in the Northern part of the country did not understand because of their myopic thinking coupling with insecurity challenges facing the region which elites in the region made poor people believes you are the architect.

In the buildup to the 2015 election there was a tick cloud of uncertainty but you act as a leader to save the country from the engulfed into serious internal crises if not a war. For country’s sake saved Nigeria and African at large. This courage made you to became the face of democracy and strong advocate of non-violent elections in the world. Remember your believe in Nigeria showed your love as well as patriotism and Nigerian would remain a good reference point to your sacrifices..

Former President Jonathan did what so many leaders in African cannot do. With his famous call at 4:45 pm to concede defeat while votes were still counted during the 2015 election made you a peace loving and a role model to African leaders and world at large despite efforts made by nefarious elements in People’s Democratic Party (PDP) who were determined to hold on power at all costs. Even General Muhammadu Buhari as he was then, expressed his shocked when President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan called him to concede defeat, “Good evening Mr. President, I have called to congratulate you and I concede defeat’, he was silent for quite a while because he was surprised and said ‘did you hear me?’

This simple act but hardest for power hungry leader proved his resilient commitment as promised to electorates in his acceptance speech, at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 2014 National Convention at the Eagle Square, Abuja said Nobody’s political ambition is worth the blood of any Nigerian and no Nigerian would lose his life because of his second term ambition.

Your Excellency, due to your patriotism you have altered the course of Nigerian history and Africa at large in spite you may have wielded power ineffectually but in refusing to cling to it illegitimately, this simple act but hard to many politicians was an unprecedented and courageous act in Nigerian politics, and it caught Nigerians and Nigerian observers by surprise.

Please don’t disgrace yourself, the some so-called your admirers, like Nigerian Young Professionals in Diaspora (NYPD), and other self centered admirers whom gave you a week ultimatum to declare your presidential bid, are nothing but sponsored crowd. If Former President Jonathan can be honest with himself coming back to tackle the huge problems is imaginable as the problems are now beyond his capacity despite Jonathan did well as Nigeria’s President for consecutive five years.

From where can you starts tackling present problems the country is facing, considering Mountainous challenges waiting the arrival of new president, remember the nation’s economy is in chaos, Insecurity is unprecedented. Scores of innocent Nigerians are killed daily by bandits and other gang of criminals while terrorists rampaging across our country.

Maintaining your reputations is most paramount by baring yourself from participating in the forthcoming elections. listening to them will only entice you to the contest, to spoils your hard earning International reputations since your concession. As result of your surprising the Democrats, new future began and you have been honored with international awards and invited to deliver keynote remarks at global conferences on everything from peace-building to improving educational opportunities. Jonathan is particularly sought-after as a champion of democracy, and led international election observation teams for the National Democratic Institute in Liberia and the Electoral Institute for Sustainable Democracy in South Africa.

Last year former president Jonathan confess his experience after leaving office inaugurating the 6.25Km Sabon Kaura-Jos bypass road constructed by the Bauchi state government. Most of my experience is that after leaving office, some people just forget that you even exist. There are people who act like they can’t eat without you when you’re in a position of power. But once you’re no longer in that position, they move on and act like you no longer exist.” said the former president.

As things stand, most southern politicians can see the sectional machination behind the sponsored lobby to have President Jonathan back. And it will be vehemently resisted by APC aspirants who include the sitting vice president. Other leading politicians who facilitated the formation of the APC will also view the co-opting of Jonathan as a grand betrayal by them, should it happen. They are likely to immediately gang up against the former president.

In my opinion, Dr. Jonathan is better off flaunting his credentials as a statesman of global reckoning than swimming in the dirty murky waters of partisan politics.
