DESOPADEC Sets August Deadline For Oduga Secondary School Assembly Hall Project

The Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) has fixed August 2026 as the deadline for the completion of the ongoing Assembly Hall project at Oduga Secondary School, Ushie, in Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State.

The Member representing the Ndokwa ethnic nationality on the DESOPADEC Governing Board, Dr. Charles Olisa, gave the directive on Thursday during an inspection visit to the project site.

Addressing the contractor and site supervisors, Olisa warned against any form of compromise in quality, stressing that the project must be executed in strict compliance with the Commission’s contractual terms, technical specifications and approved standards.

He said the project formed part of DESOPADEC’s commitment to delivering impactful infrastructure capable of improving educational development and enhancing the wellbeing of communities in oil-producing areas.

“This project is part of DESOPADEC’s mandate to deliver tangible, high-impact infrastructure that would improve learning conditions and community life across the oil-producing areas.

“We expect contractors to maintain professional standards, meet agreed timelines and ensure transparency throughout execution,” he stated.

Olisa reiterated the Commission’s zero-tolerance policy for substandard jobs, insisting that value for money remained a cardinal principle guiding all DESOPADEC interventions.

The board member noted that the inspection was in line with the Governing Board’s renewed drive to fast-track the delivery of meaningful and sustainable projects across the Commission’s mandate areas under the leadership of Board Chairman, Olorogun Barr. John Nani, and Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Chief Festus Ochonogor.

According to him, the Board’s development strategy aligns with the Delta State Government’s M.O.R.E. Agenda championed by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, which focuses on Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security.

Upon completion, the Assembly Hall is expected to provide a conducive environment for academic and social activities, reduce congestion within the school and serve as a befitting venue for community engagements and events.
